Old Man's Lake
Old Man's Lake is a small lake near Magnetawan, in the Almaguin Highlands, Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. It is spring fed and hosts a handful of cottages. The lake drains over a small waterfall into Ahmic Lake. Old Man’s Lake received its name because, the story goes, the area once was divided into three large farms. Two farms were owned by two sons and the “Old Man” had the other. His house was on the east shore. The farm still exists today (although it is much smaller).
Spence, Ontario
Spence is a ghost town in the Canadian province of Ontario, at the crossroads of the Nipissing Colonization Road and the Ryerson Road (now Nelson Lake Road). The name of the village came from Spence Township, named for former Postmaster General, Robert Spence. Approximately 10 km north of Dufferin Bridge it was a small farming community. By the 1870s, a general store was owned by Henry Clifford and a hotel operated by William Cameron. The post office was opened in 1872 by William Ashdown.
