Collège Boréal is a francophone College of Applied Arts and Technology based and with its principal campus in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The college also has satellite campuses in Hearst, Kapuskasing, Timmins, Temiskaming Shores, Toronto and West Nipissing. CBBS-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's CBC Radio 2 network at 90.1 FM in Sudbury, Ontario. The station was originally licensed by the CRTC in 1984. However, due to financial constraints at the CBC, the station was never launched, and the CBC was forced in 1991 to surrender all of its non-operating licenses. The CBC subsequently applied for a new license, which was awarded in 2000, and the station launched in the spring of 2001.
New Sudbury Centre
The New Sudbury Centre is the second largest shopping mall in Northern Ontario, Canada, just behind the Station Mall in Sault Ste. Marie. It has 110 stores and 530,619 square feet of retail space. Major tenants include Sears, Walmart, Urban Planet, Future Shop and American Eagle Outfitters. Today's Future Shop was originally housed inside the shopping mall but was relocated to the site of the Sear's Garage (now demolished) in the complex.
École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur
École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur is one of four French-language Catholic secondary schools in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. It is maintained by the Conseil scolaire de district catholique du Nouvel-Ontario. It is located at 261 Notre-Dame Avenue, next to city owned soccer fields and tennis courts which double as school grounds. The school is currently under the direction of Paul Henry and acting as the vice-principal is Suzanne Lapointe.
Frood Mine
Frood-Stobie Mine is a nickel mine in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. During World War II, Frood Mine alone accounted for a full 40 per cent of all the nickel used in Allied artillery production. In 1989, Frood Mine shared the John T. Ryan Trophy for the best occupational safety record among Canadian mines in the previous year. The mine is named for Thomas Frood, an employee of the federal department of Crown lands who prospected and staked many of the early mining claims in the area.
