Welland River
The Welland River is a river in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario which flows from its headwaters south of Hamilton, Ontario to empty into the Niagara River near the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario. It drains an area of 880 km². The river was originally called the Chippawa Creek since it drained into Niagara River at Chippawa. Like many other places in Niagara, it was renamed by John Graves Simcoe, the first lieutenant governor of Upper Canada in 1792.

The Battle of Cook's Mills was the last engagement between U.S. and British armies in the Niagara, and the penultimate (second-to-last) engagement (followed by the Battle of Malcolm's Mills) on Canadian soil during the War of 1812.

Port Robinson, Ontario
Port Robinson is a small community in the southernmost part of Thorold, Ontario, Canada. The community is divided in half by the Welland Canal, as there is no bridge in the immediate vicinity to connect the two halves of the community. In the summer, a passenger ferry runs across the canal. In the winter, residents have to use the bridge on Highway 20, which results in a 13.3 km (8.3 mi) trip to get to the other side.
