Acadia Arena
The Acadia Arena is a 2,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was built in 1988, and features an Olympic sized ice surface. It is home to the Acadia Axemen ice hockey team. Has also hosted exhibition games featuring Team Canada, NHL old-timers and the American Hockey League. The arena was the training site for the Soviets for the 1990 World Figure Skating Championships, which were held in Halifax.
Gaspereau, Nova Scotia
Gaspereau is a Canadian rural community located in Kings County, Nova Scotia. It is located about 3 km south of the town of Wolfville on the Gaspereau River. The name "Gaspereau" is often used to refer to all of the communities throughout the 15 km Gaspereau Valley. The name is derived from the Gaspereau fish, Alosa pseudoharengus, which migrates up the river every spring. The fishing of Gaspereau has been important to human settlement of the Gaspereau Valley for thousands of years.
Raymond Field
Raymond Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. It is the home of the Acadia University Axemen football and soccer teams as well as the Acadia Axewomen soccer and rugby teams. It can seat 3,000 5,000 with standing room. and was built in 1966. In 2007, the natural grass was replaced with FieldTurf and the running track was replaced with an 8-lane all-weather surface.
Cornwallis River
The Cornwallis River is a river in Nova Scotia, Canada. It has a meander length of approximately 48 km from its source on the North Mountain near Berwick to its mouth near Wolfville on the Minas Basin. The lower portion of the river is tidal and there are extensive tidal marshes in the lower reaches. While the river is no longer used for navigation, Port Williams was once an important destination for coastal shipping.
