Sydney, Nova Scotia
Sydney is a Canadian community in Nova Scotia. Situated on Cape Breton Island's east coast, it belongs administratively to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Sydney was founded in 1785 by the British Crown, and was incorporated as a city in 1904, and dissolved on 1 August 1995, when it was amalgamated into the regional municipality. It served as the Cape Breton Island colony's capital, until 1820, when the colony merged with Nova Scotia and the capital moved to Halifax.

Cape Breton Regional Municipality often shortened to simply CBRM, is a regional municipality in Nova Scotia's Cape Breton County. According to the 2011 Census of Canada, the population within the Cape Breton Regional Municipality is 97,398. Its population makes it the second largest municipality in the province. In 1995, the government of Nova Scotia sought to reduce the number of incorporated towns and cities in the province through amalgamation.
Centre 200
Centre 200 is Cape Breton's primary sports and entertainment facility, located in Sydney, Nova Scotia. It is home to the QMJHL's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the NSMMHL's Cape Breton Tradesmen. Besides ice hockey, the arena hosts many other events, such as rock concerts, figure skating, and antique/custom car shows. The facility features an obstruction free sports arena that seats 5,000 people, expandable seating to 6,500 for concert hall purposes, and exhibit space of 17,000 sq ft .
Whitney Pier
Whitney Pier is a Canadian urban neighbourhood in Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Prior to municipal amalgamation in 1995 which saw the formation of CBRM, Whitney Pier was a neighbourhood on the northern boundary of the City of Sydney. It is a triangle-shaped area north of the Muggah Creek estuary running along the eastern shore of Sydney Harbour.
Sydney Academy
Sydney Academy (often abbreviated as SA and often referred to as "The Academy") is one of two main secondary schools, along with Riverview Rural High School, that service the former city of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Its current building, at 49 Terrace Street, is an educational facility opened in 1959, and is the sixth building to house the school. It is the oldest school in the Sydney area, and once was a private school near the end of the 19th century.
