USS Truxtun (DD-229)
USS Truxtun (DD-229) was a Clemson-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. She was the third ship named for Thomas Truxtun. Truxtun was laid down on 3 December 1919 and launched on 28 September 1920 from William Cramp & Sons, sponsored by Miss Isabelle Truxtun Brumby, and commissioned at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on 16 February 1921, Lieutenant Commander Melville S. Brown in command.
Taylor's Bay
Taylor's Bay an abandoned settlement was located east of Lamaline in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. On a 1744 French map the cove was noted as Baye de Tailleur. William and Martha Bonnell who had moved from Lamaline, is noted as the first settlers to the community. In 1929 a tidal wave struck this small fishing community destroying many small ships and local stores. Only five of the seventeen houses remained standing.
