Newcastle, New Brunswick
Newcastle is a Canadian urban neighbourhood in the city of Miramichi, New Brunswick. Prior to municipal amalgamation in 1995, it was an incorporated town and the shire town of Northumberland County. Situated on the north bank of the Miramichi River, the former town is sometimes referred to as Miramichi West. Being a former shire town, Newcastle is the location of several government offices and the county court house.
Northwest Miramichi River
The Northwest Miramichi River is a Canadian river in New Brunswick. The Mi'kmaq referred to the river as Elmunokun, possibly meaning "a beaver hole" in reference to a deep pool in the river, just below the mouth of the Big Sevogle River, its largest tributary. The Northwest Miramichi River has its origins near Big Bald Mountain in the Miramichi Highlands, part of the Appalachian Mountains in Northumberland County.
Miramichi Bridge
The Miramichi Bridge is a bridge crossing the Miramichi River at Newcastle, New Brunswick, Canada. It opened to traffic in 1995 as part of the Route 117 Chatham bypass project. It is located approximately 1 km upstream from the older Morrissy Bridge, which closed to all traffic in September 2008. The bridge is a continuous steel girder design carrying two lanes of highway traffic from Chatham Head on the south bank to Newcastle on the north bank.

The Eel Ground Band or Eel Ground First Nation is a Mi'kmaq First Nations community of 977 people located on the Miramichi River in northern New Brunswick, Canada. The community comprises three reserves (Eel Ground #2, Big Hole Tract # 8, and Renous #12).
Beaubears Island
Beaubears Island is an island at the confluence of the Northwest Miramichi and Southwest Miramichi Rivers near Miramichi, New Brunswick. The island is most famous for being the site of an Acadian refugee camp during the French and Indian War. The camp was under the command of leader of the Acadian resistance to the expulsion, Charles Deschamps de Boishébert et de Raffetot. The island is named after Pierre Beaubair, superintendent of the colony.
