Summerland, British Columbia

Summerland (2011 population 11,280) is a town on the west side of Okanagan Lake in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. The district is between Peachland to the north and Penticton to the south. The largest centre in the region is Kelowna, approximately 50 km to the north, and Vancouver is approximately 425 km away to the west. Summerland is largely a retirement community, with a large percent of the population being elderly.

Kettle Valley Steam Railway

The Kettle Valley Steam Railway is a heritage railway near Summerland, British Columbia. The KVSR operates excursion trains over the only remaining section of the Kettle Valley Railway through beautiful vistas, orchards, vineyards, and over the 238 feet tall Trout Creek Trestle. Trains depart at 10:30 and 1:30 Sat-Mon during the spring and fall and Thurs-Mon through July and August. Check the schedule for special events such as the Great Train Robbery and the Christmas Express.

Prairie Valley railway station

Prairie Valley is a former Canadian Pacific Railway station in Summerland, British Columbia, Canada, which is now used by the Kettle Valley Steam Railway. The Canadian Pacific Railway no longer operates trains over the railway line, which was disconnected from the Canadian Pacific mainline and abandoned between 1961 and 1989. The Kettle Valley Steam Railway now operates steam excursion trains over the line.
