Calgary Stampede
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and First Nations exhibitions.
Scotiabank Saddledome
The Scotiabank Saddledome is the primary indoor arena of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It has a seating capacity of 19,289 people. Located on the Stampede Grounds, on the east end of downtown Calgary, the Saddledome was built in 1983 to replace the Stampede Corral as the home of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, and to host ice hockey and figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Stampede Corral
The Stampede Corral is an ice hockey, rodeo, and tennis arena multi-purpose venue in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The arena was completed in 1950 at a cost of C$1.25 million to replace Victoria Arena as the home of the Calgary Stampeders Hockey Club. Seating 6,475, plus standing room, it is used in the annual Calgary Stampede. The Corral was built and is still owned by the Calgary Stampede non-profit organization, which leases the underlying land at $1/year from the city of Calgary.
Victoria Park / Stampede (C-Train)
Victoria Park/Stampede (formerly named Stampede until 1995) is a stop on the South Line (Route 201) of the C-Train light rail system in Calgary, Alberta. The station opened on May 25, 1981 as part of the original South line. The station, located on the exclusive LRT right of way, 1 km South of the City Hall interlocking beside Macleod Trail just north of 17 Avenue SE, serves Stampede Park, the site of the Calgary Stampede as well as the communities of Beltline and Mission.
Erlton/Stampede (C-Train)
Erlton/Stampede (formerly named Erlton until 1995) is a stop on the South Line (Route 201) of the C-Train light rail system in Calgary, Alberta. It is located on the exclusive LRT right of way, 1.7 km South of the City Hall Interlocking, beside Macleod Trail at 25 Avenue SE. The station opened on May 25, 1981 as part of the original South line.
Stampede Grandstand
The Stampede Grandstand is a 17,000-seat, plus 8,000 more with standing room, stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It annually hosts the rodeo, the chuckwagon races and the evening Grandstand Show portions of the Calgary Stampede. Additionally, from March through June annually, the Grandstand hosts live thoroughbred racing on its half-mile dirt track. Off-track betting is run year-round in the same clubhouse facilities.
Ramsay, Calgary
Ramsay is a residential neighbourhood in the south-east quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is an inner city community, located east of the Elbow River, Macleod Trail, Stampede Grounds and the Pengrowth Saddledome arena and south of Inglewood. To the south-east, it borders the Alyth-Bonny Brook industrial area. The eastern half of the community consists primarily of older homes and there is an industrial area in the most eastern corner of the community.
Erlton, Calgary
Erlton is an inner city residential neighbourhood in the south-west quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by the Elbow River to the north and west, by Spiller Road to the east and by Mission Road to the south. Macleod Trail bisects the neighbourhood from north to south. Erlton was established in 1906. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by Ward 9 Alderman Gian-Carlo Carra. The community is served by the Erlton/Stampede station of the C-Train LRT system.
17 Avenue SW (Calgary)
17 Avenue SW is a major east-west arterial road in the south-west quadrant of the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Between the Calgary Stampede Grounds and 14 Street SW, it is a commercial street, with bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and shops, which has been designated a Business Revitalization Zones. It carries the banner "Uptown 17th" on this portion.
City of Calgary Water Centre
The City of Calgary Water Centre is the headquarters of Calgary's Water Resources and Water Services' staff, housing its 460 professional and 314 field staff. The four-story office building was completed in 2008, and upon opening was both the largest LEED-rated office building in Alberta and Alberta's first Gold-certified building.
