Shepard, Calgary
Shepard is a residential subdivision on the eastern periphery of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Until 2007, it was an unincorporated hamlet and previously part of Rocky View County. It was annexed by the City of Calgary in July 2007. Prior to its annexation, for many years Shepard was located just outside the eastern boundary of the City of Calgary, several kilometres south of the Trans-Canada Highway at the intersection of 84 Street S.E. and 114 Avenue S.E.
Copperfield, Calgary
Copperfield is a neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The neighbourhood is bounded by 52nd St. to the west, The Marquis of Lorne Trail to the south, and the neighbourhood of New Brighton to the north. The city's as yet unnamed East Freeway will form the community's eastern boundary when it is built. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by Ward 12 Alderman Shane Keating. Copperfield had a population of 2,776 in 2006.
New Brighton, Calgary
New Brighton is a master planned residential neighbourhood under development in the south-east of Calgary, Alberta. Located east of 52nd. Street SE and south of future 130th. Ave extension and McIvor Boulevard to the south. The community contains a variety of single family and multi-family homes as well as a private residents association recreation facility called the New Brighton Club with a water park, hockey rink, tennis, banquet facilities and studio space with many programmed activities.
Race City Motorsport Park
Race City Motorsport Park, also known as Race City, was a multi-track auto racing facility located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The facility featured a ¼ mile dragstrip, a 2.0-mile 11-turn road course, and a ½ mile paved short oval. Race City was due to close around October 9, 2009. On September 28, 2009, Calgary city council voted in favour of extending the lease on Race City until 2015. This was later overturned, the track officially closed on October 21st, 2011.
Ralph Klein Park
Ralph Klein Park is a 30.35-hectare (75-acre) wetland park in the city of Calgary, Alberta. Construction started in 2009, and the dedication ceremony was on July 19, 2010. The park was opened to the public on June 18, 2011. The park features public art by Beverly Pepper. The street address of the park is 12350 84 St. S.E. , adjacent to the small neighbourhood of Shepard. Its opening hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. Ralph Klein Park is closed on statutory holidays.
