The students are admitted through yearly exams called vestibular. UFMG is one of Brazil's five largest universities, being the largest federal university. Mineirinho Arena (officially Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drumond) is the biggest indoor sporting arena in Brazil. Located in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, the 32 year old stadium holds 25,000 people. Mineirinho is located in the Sports Complex of Mineirão Stadium in the Pampulha, which will be one of the headquarters of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The nickname is due to being located close to the larger Mineirão (big Mineiro).

Praça Raul Soares
The Praça Raul Soares is a major square of Belo Horizonte. Built in French style, it is situated at the confluence of four major avenues: Amazonas, Augusto de Lima, Bias Fortes and Olegário Maciel. The square is named in honor of the former president of Minas Gerais, Raul Soares de Moura. The square is today, a great point of GLS Belo Horizonte.

The Juscelino Kubitschek Arena, also called Vivo Arena, or Telemig Celular Arena (for sponsoring reason), is the indoor multisport stadium from Minas Tênis Clube. It is located in Lourdes neighborhood in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and is part of the Minas I complex, the Minas Tenis Clube's headquarters. The name is a homage to the former Belo Horizonte's mayor, former Minas Gerais governor and former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek. The stadium occupies an area of more than 7.000 m².
Gruta do Janelão
Gruta do Janelão (MG-199) is a limestone cave located inside the Cavernas do Peruaçu National Park, in the municipality of Januária, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This cave is the largest in the valley, totaling 4,740 m of horizontal extension and elevation of 176m. Because it has several skylights letting the sun in, small forests that resemble Japanese gardens by the delicacy and harmony are formed everywhere, all by the banks of the Peruaçu river which runs through the Janelão grotto.
