Herzegovina-Neretva Canton
The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, officially the Herzegovina-Neretva County-Canton and Herzegovina-Neretva Canton is the seventh of 10 cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The canton mainly comprises the Neretva river valley area and parts of Herzegovina west of Mostar, its administrative center.
Neretva
Neretva is the largest river of the eastern part of the Adriatic basin. It has been harnessed and controlled to a large extent by four HE power-plants with large dams (higher than 15 metres) and their storage lakes, but it is still recognized for its natural beauty and diversity of its landscape. Freshwater ecosystems have suffered a lot from an increasing population and the associated development pressures.
