Sarajevo
Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an estimated population of over 321,000 people within its administrative limits. It is also the capital of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, as well as the center of the Sarajevo Canton, which has estimated population of 469,400. Siege of Sarajevo
The Siege of Sarajevo was the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare. After being initially besieged by the forces of the Yugoslav People's Army, Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was besieged by the Army of Republika Srpska from 5 April 1992 to 29 February 1996 during the Bosnian War. The siege lasted three times longer than the Siege of Stalingrad and a year longer than the Siege of Leningrad.
Ilidža
Ilidža is a town and municipality in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has a metro population of 157,654, making it the 7th largest city in the country. Ilidža is the chief suburb of Sarajevo. It is famous for the natural beauty of its surroundings and historical tradition dating back to neolithic times. Sarajevo International Airport is located nearby, as is the famous Vrelo Bosne spring. Miljacka
The Miljacka is a river in Bosnia and Herzegovina that passes through Sarajevo and East Sarajevo. The Miljacka river originates from the Paljanska Miljacka river and the Mokranjska Miljacka river confluence, though the Paljanska Miljacka, 13 kilometres long river, spring up around 10 kilometres eastward from the town of Pale, under the slopes of Jahorina near Begovina at 1010 metres a.s.l.
Alipašino polje
Alipašino Polje is a neighbourhood in Sarajevo located in the municipality of Novi Grad. It is made of three neighborhoods Faza A, Faza B i Faza C, which include six local communities. It started building in 1974, and was finished in 1979. Its lowest buildings have 4 floors and highest one have 18 floors.
Sarajevo Tunnel
Between between May 1992 and November 1996, during the Siege of Sarajevo and in the midst of the Bosnian War the Sarajevo Tunnel was constructed by the Bosnian Army in order to link the city of Sarajevo, which was entirely cut-off by Serbian forces, with the Bosnian-held territory on the other side of the Sarajevo Airport, an area controlled by the United Nations.
