Ars Electronica

Ars Electronica is an organization based in Linz, Austria, founded in 1979 around a festival for art, technology and society that was part of the International Bruckner Festival. Herbert W. Franke is one of its founders. It became its own festival and a yearly event in 1986. Its director until 1995 was Peter Weibel. Since 1995 Gerfried Stocker has been the artistic director of Ars Electronica.

Schloss Hartheim

Schloss Hartheim, located at Alkoven in Upper Austria, some 14 km. from Linz, Austria, became notorious as one of the Nazi Euthanasia killing centers, where the killing program Action T4 took place. The castle was built by Jakob von Aspen in 1600. It is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Austria. In 1898, Prince Camillo Heinrich Starhemberg (1835 - 1900) donated the castle as a gift to the Upper Austria Charity Organization.

New Cathedral, Linz

The building of the New Cathedral (Germ. Neuer Dom), also known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Mariä-Empfängnis-Dom) in Linz was begun in 1855 by Bishop Franz-Josef Rudigier. The first stone was laid in 1862. This event was solemnised by the performance of Bruckner's Festive Cantata Preiset den Hern. In 1924 Bishop Johannes Maria Gföllner consecrated the finished building as the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary (Mariendom).

Freinberg Transmitter

The Freinberg Transmitter is a broadcasting transmitter on the Freinberg near Linz. It was established in 1928 as medium wave broadcasting station and used until 1936 a T-antenna, which hung up on two guyed masts, which were 45 metres tall. In 1936, the T-antenna was replaced by a 165 metre tall mast, insulated against ground. In summer 1950, the antenna mast was shortened to 120 metres, because it was too long for the new frequency and would have a bad radiation diagram.

Innbach

The Innbach is a river in Upper Austria with a length of approximately 53 km (33 mi). Its source is near Gaspoltshofen at the foot of the Hausruck hills and empties into the Danube at Wilhering. Pöstlingbergbahn

The Pöstlingbergbahn is a narrow-gauge electric railway, or "mountain tramway", in Linz, Austria. It connects the main square in the center of Linz with the district of Pöstlingberg, located at the top of a hill (or small mountain) at the northern end of the city. Linz Central Station
