Avenel is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is in the Shire of Strathbogie local government area. At the 2006 census, Avenel had a population of 728, up from 552 in the 2001 Census.
Avenel railway station, Victoria
Avenel is a railway station on the North East railway in the township Avenel, Victoria, Australia. It is served by the Melbourne to Albury-Wodonga V/Line rail service. The station has a single platform located between the original broad gauge track (now converted to standard gauge) and the original standard gauge track which was opened in 1962. The station is now under the care of a group of local stationeers who meet every Friday morning to maintain the station and surrounding gardens.
