Launceston, Tasmania
Launceston is a city in the north of Tasmania, Australia at the junction of the North Esk and South Esk rivers where they become the Tamar River. Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania after Hobart. With a population (greater urban and statistical sub division) of 106,153, Launceston is the ninth largest non-capital city in Australia. Settled by Europeans in March 1806, Launceston is one of Australia's oldest cities and is home to many historic buildings.
Silverdome (Launceston)
The Silverdome, Australia's first indoor velodrome, is an indoor sporting and entertainment venue located in Launceston, Tasmania built in 1984. The Silverdome was built at an estimated cost of A$4 million, as the Tasmanian Government "proposed a world class facility" to replace the run down velodrome in the Launceston suburb of St Leonards. In January 1985, the facility's opening coincided with the City of Launceston Cycling Club Championships.
York Park
York Park is a sports ground in the Inveresk and York Park Precinct, Launceston, Australia. Holding 21,000 people—more than any other stadium in Tasmania—York Park has been known as Aurora Stadium under a six-year naming rights agreement signed with Aurora Energy in 2004. Primarily used for Australian rules football, its record attendance of 20,971 was set in June 2006, when Hawthorn Football Club played Richmond Football Club in an Australian Football League (AFL) match.
Cataract Gorge
The Cataract Gorge is a river gorge in Launceston, northern Tasmania, Australia and is one of the region's premier tourist attractions. It is found at the lower section of the South Esk River. The earliest known European visitor to the site was William Collins, who discovered its entrance in 1804. A pathway, known as the King’s Bridge-Cataract Walk, and originally built by volunteers in the 1890s, runs along the north bank of the Cataract Gorge, and is a popular tourist destination.

Launceston Reception Centre, formerly the Launceston Remand Centre, an Australian maximum security prison for male and female inmates held on remand, is located in Launceston, Tasmania. The facility is operated by the Tasmanian Prison Service, an agency of the Department of Justice of the Government of Tasmania.
North Esk River
The North Esk River is a river in Tasmania, Australia. It is one of the tributaries of the Tamar River together with the South Esk River. It starts in the Northallerton Valley below Ben Nevis in the states North East joining with the St Patricks River, flowing through Launceston. Launceston's Old Seaport tourist feature is located on the North Esk River. The river becomes tidal downstream of Hoblers Bridge to where it meets the Tamar.

City Park Radio
City Park Radio is a community radio station in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, broadcasting on the frequency 103.7 FM and is a member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. The station started broadcasting on 7 April 1986, from facilities in Newnham as 7LTN-fm. In 1988, the station moved to the 100-year-old City Park Cottage in Launceston's City Park and started using the name City Park Radio. In 1993, work was started on a new studio complex behind the cottage.
Launceston Synagogue
The Launceston Synagogue is a heritage-listed building located in St. John's Street, Launceston, Tasmania. Built in 1844 by Tasmanian builders Barton and Bennell, the building is Australia's second-oldest synagogue, the oldest place of non-Christian worship in Launceston, and is a rare example of an Egyptian revival architecture in Australia.

Originally broadcasting on 1008AM as 7EX, Launceston's second commercial radio station, the station converted to 90.1 FM in 2008. Grant Broadcasters purchased the station from TOTE Sport Radio in December 2010 and re-launched the station as CHR Chilli FM on 26 January 2011.

Completed in August 1989, the building was constructed at a cost of $44 million, with up to 130 men working on-site. Before the official opening of the hotel, 20,000 locals visited the Chancellor on its open day.
Launceston Gasworks
The Launceston Gasworks was the principal supplier of gas to the city of Launceston in Tasmania before the importation of LPG in the 1970s. The gasworks produced gas by heating coal and siphoning off the gas that it released. The first buildings on site were the horizontal retort buildings built in 1860 from brick and sandstone. The site was later used by Origin Energy as their Launceston LPG outlet.
