City of Clarence
The City of Clarence is a city and local government area in Tasmania, Australia. Along with Hobart and Glenorchy, Clarence is one of the three cities that constitute the Greater Hobart Area. The City of Clarence is located between the eastern shore of the Derwent River to the west, Pitt Water and the Coal River valley to the east, the Meehan Range to the north, and Storm Bay to the south.
Sorell, Tasmania
Sorell is a town in Tasmania, Australia, south-east of Hobart. It is located on the Tasman Highway at the junction with the Arthur Highway. At the 2006 census, Sorell had a population of 1,546, and at the 2011 census, a population of 2,476. Sorell was name after William Sorell, the third Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen's Land. Historically, it was known as a major town on the route from Hobart to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula.

It is in the local government area of Sorell Council, and is located on a small peninsula with Orielton Lagoon on its eastern side and Pitt Water on its southern and western sides. It faces Ralphs Bay, and the majority of Lauderdale's population live along Roches Beach, which faces Frederick Henry Bay.

Sorell Causeway
The Sorell Causeway is a causeway that stretches from the western side of Midway Point across Orielton Lagoon to Sorell. Together with Mcgees Bridge (that connects the eastern side of Midway Point) they connect Sorell with Hobart via the Tasman Highway. In colonial times, the Richmond Bridge had been the primary crossing point of the Coal River on the road from Hobart to Sorell and beyond to the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur.

Lauderdale Oval
Lauderdale Oval or Lauderdale Sports Ground is a suburban Australian rules football and cricket ground situated in the beach-side Hobart suburb of Lauderdale, Tasmania. It is home of the Lauderdale Football Club in the Tasmanian State League and has been used by the Lauderdale Football Club since 1948 in both amateur and country football. In 1998, Lauderdale Oval underwent upgrades for increased lighting, enabling the ground to be used for night football in the Southern Football League.
Canopus Hill Observatory
The Canopus Hill Observatory is an optical astronomy observatory belonging to the University of Tasmania, It is located approximately 12 km from Hobart in Tasmania, Australia. Also on the site is a 16" telescope used by the Astronomical Society of Tasmania for photographic work and for public viewing during observatory open nights. The expanding city of Hobart provides a high level of light-pollution making the astronomical observations very hard.
1946 Australian National Airways DC-3 crash
On Sunday 10 March 1946 a Douglas DC-3 aircraft departed from Hobart, Australia for a flight to Melbourne. The aircraft crashed into the sea with both engines operating less than 2 minutes after takeoff. All twenty-five people on board the aircraft died. It was Australia's worst civil aviation accident. An investigation panel was promptly established to investigate the accident.
South Arm Important Bird Area
