James Cook University
James Cook University (JCU) is a public university based in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The university has three Australian campuses in Townsville, Brisbane and Cairns respectively, and an international campus in Singapore. JCU is the second oldest university in Queensland—proclaimed in 1970—and the first tertiary education institution in North Queensland. JCU is one of only seventeen Australian universities that were listed in the ARWU top 400 academic world universities in 2008.
City of Thuringowa
The City of Thuringowa was a city and local government area in North Queensland, Australia covering the northern and western parts of what is now Townsville. The suburb of Thuringowa Central is the main business centre in this area. Thuringowa was named after the German region of Thuringia where the shire's first chairman, John von Stieglitz originated. Prior to its proclamation as a city on 1 January 1986, Thuringowa was a large rural shire, almost surrounding the City of Townsville.
Ryan Catholic College
Ryan Catholic College is a combined, co-educational, primary and secondary school in what is now the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It was established by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Townsville in 1979. Ryan is the largest catholic school in Townsville. It currently has over 1900 enrolments and employs approximately 200 teachers. It is unique in the fact that students are not required to address their teachers by their prefixes and last names.
Willows Sports Complex
The Willows Sports Complex, currently known as 1300SMILES Stadium due to sponsorship rights, is a grass football stadium situated in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It has historically been used mainly for rugby league, and is the home ground of the National Rugby League club the North Queensland Cowboys. It has also been used for rugby union. For sponsorship reasons, the stadium was previously known as Stockland Stadium (1995–98), Malanda Stadium (1998) and Dairy Farmers Stadium (1999–2013).
Douglas, Queensland
Douglas is a suburb of Townsville, Queensland, Australia south of the Ross River and west of the city centre. Though mainly residential, it does contain James Cook University and the Townsville Hospital. The suburb is also known due to the Douglas Arterial Road which is a thoroughfare single-carriageway motorway through the suburb, also the first stage of the Townsville Ring Road.

Willows Shopping Centre is a sub-regional shopping centre, located in Kirwan, a suburb of Townsville, Queensland. It is one of Townsville's largest shopping centers with a total of 130 retail stores. Mount Stuart, Queensland
. Mount Stuart is located in Queensland, Australia, overlooking Townsville with an elevation of 584 metres. It was named for Clarendon Stuart (1833–1912), from 1859 Townsville's first district surveyor. Mount Stuart is used for commercial and ABC Queensland television transmission, it was also used as a Bureau of Meteorology radar station until late 2011, where it was moved to Hervey Range.

Riverway, Townsville
Riverway is a riverfront parkland attraction located in the Condon Suburb of Townsville that opened in July 2006. It stretches along 11 km of the Ross River, with areas at Pioneer Park, Loam Island, Apex Park and Ross Park at the Ross River Dam. The areas of Riverway that have been completed are Pioneer Park and Loam Island. Riverway is connected directly to the Thuringowa Central business district via a pathway along the foreshore.
Thuringowa Central, Queensland
Thuringowa Central is a suburb and a commercial hub in western Townsville, Queensland. It was the central business district of the former City of Thuringowa before its amalgamation with the adjacent City of Townsville in 2008. While consisting of predominantly commercial buildings it also contains a residential subdivision. The suburb and surrounding area is often referred to by locals as The Willows - Willows Shoppingtown in Kirwan is a nearby major retail centre.
Condon, Queensland
Condon is a suburb in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Condon is part of the Upper Ross District and is the first of three suburbs along Riverway Drive. Condon's first residential development was in 1968; it was named after the Condon family (William Condon) who had settled on the Ross River and had a dairy farm. Townsville's motor way runs through Condon. Thuringowa State High School is also in this suburb.

Kelso is a suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia, the last of three suburbs along Riverway Drive. Kelso is the only suburb on Riverway Drive that has homes backing onto the Ross River.
Rasmussen, Queensland
Rasmussen is a suburb in the City of Townsville in Queensland, Australia. It is the second suburb on Riverway Drive and is between the suburbs of Condon and Kelso; like all the suburbs in the Upper Ross and Riverway area it is named after early settlers. Rasmussen is named after the Rasmussen family (Jorgen Rasmussen). The family had a dairy farm on the Ross River. The area is flat and is bounded on the east by the Ross River.
Thuringowa State High School
Thuringowa State High School is situated in the City of Townsville, North Queensland in the suburb of Condon. Thuringowa High opened in 1987 with year 8, 9 and 11 students, and offers programs in sport, cultural achievement, the Theatre Restaurant (Thuringowa high school was State finalist in the inaugural Showcase Awards) and Vocational education, amongst others.

Aitkenvale Aerodrome
Aitkenvale Aerodrome was an aerodrome located 10 km southwest of Townsville, Queensland, Australia near Aitkenvale Weir on the banks of the Ross River. It was also known as Weir and Aitkenvale Weir. The aerodrome was constructed in 1942, during World War II, for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as part of a group of airfields to be used as aircraft dispersal fields in the event of Imperial Japanese attack on the Townsville area.
