Caloundra
Caloundra is the southernmost community on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland, Australia, located 90 kilometres north of Brisbane CBD. Caloundra is accessible from Landsborough Railway Station and the Caloundra bus station. In the local Aboriginal dialect, 'Kalowendah' translates as 'Place of the Beech Trees'.
Nicklin Way
Nicklin Way (SR6) is a major road in Sunshine Coast, Queensland. It runs from the southern end of the Sunshine Motorway at Mooloolaba to Caloundra, with the route signed as state route 6. With the population of Sunshine Coast growing quickly, the road is often prone to congestion. In recent times, development around the Nicklin Way, and new arterial roads linking those areas with the Sunshine Motorway at Sippy Downs has eased traffic.

It was named by Sir Leslie Wilson, in which he used the local aboriginal name for the area, Garrimundi or Girrimundi, meaning Place of flying foxes. Currimundi Lake is a saltwater lake situated beside Currimundi Beach. Nicklin Way, the main road between Caloundra and Maroochydore, crosses Ahern Bridge over Currimundi Lake.

The area was named after the iron steamboat, the SS Dicky, which ran aground during heavy seas in 1893. It was refloated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. Dicky Beach remains the only recreational beach in the world to be named after a shipwreck.

Head of the River (Queensland)
The Queensland Head of the River refers to two high school rowing regattas in Queensland Australia, one for boys and one for girls (Brisbane Schoolgirls' Rowing Association. , BSRA). The boys' regatta is held in mid to late March while the girls' regatta is held in late August to early September. Due to the lack of water at Wivenhoe Dam the boys' Head of the River was moved to Hinze Dam for 2006, and was then moved to Lake Kawana on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland the following year.
