Crab Island (Queensland)
Crab Island (Moent Island) is an uninhabited island west of Muttee Heads and the coastal community of Seisia which is adjacent to Bamaga at the tip of Cape York Peninsula within the Endeavour Strait Queensland, Australia in the Torres Strait. It is around 5.300 hectares or 53 square km in size. The distance to the closest mainland (close to Slade Point) is 1.4 kilometres.
Mutee Head
Mutee Head is about 20 km west of Bamaga at the tip of Cape York Peninsula, in Queensland, Australia. During World War II the No 52 Radar Station moved from Mascot in New South Wales to Townsville in north Queensland and finally to Mutee Head. No. 52 Radar Station was based at Mutee Head from 29 March 1943 until 29 September 1945. The Injinoo people in the Mutee Head area actively assisted with the war effort.
Injinoo, Queensland
Injinoo Aboriginal Community was an Aboriginal settlement and later Anglican mission established on Cape York by a community led by a Wuthathi man, Allelic Whitesand. At the 2006 census, Injinoo had a population of 416. Although self-sufficient, through fishing and gardening, the Community made requests to the then Church of England to establish a mission and school. Queensland government officials allowed the community to function through an elected Council.
Northern Peninsula Area Region
The Northern Peninsula Area Region is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia, covering areas on the northwestern coast of Cape York Peninsula. It was created in March 2008 out of three Aboriginal Shires and two autonomous Island Councils during a period of statewide local government reform.
