1989 Newcastle earthquake
The 1989 Newcastle earthquake was a Richter magnitude 5.6 earthquake that occurred in Newcastle, New South Wales on Thursday, 28 December 1989, at 10:27 am. It was one of Australia's most serious natural disasters, killing 13 people and injuring more than 160. The damage bill has been estimated at A$4 billion (including an insured loss of about $1 billion).
Teralba railway station
Teralba is a railway station located near Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia on the Newcastle & Central Coast Line. The station has two platforms. The station is served by intercity trains to Sydney and local trains to Morisset. Prior to rail electrification, Teralba station operated an island platform, the eastern side for coal transportation from the Pacific colliery, and some passenger services, to and from Newcastle.
Booragul railway station
Booragul railway station is a railway station located near Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia on the Main North railway line. The station opened in 1926, almost 40 years after the construction of this section of the Main North Line. The station has two platforms in an island configuration with lightweight passenger shelters. The original station buildings were extensively damaged in the 1989 Newcastle earthquake, resulting it their demolition and replacement with the current structures.

Cockle Creek Smelter
Cockle Creek Smelter was a zinc and lead smelter located at the northern end of Lake Macquarie near Boolaroo New South Wales. The smelter was built in by Sulphide Corporation Limited in 1896 and the first attempts to refine zinc using the Ashcroft Process began in 1897 and was abandoned shortly after due to technical difficulties. The plant was subsequently adapted to smelt Lead using blast furnace technology.
Seahampton, New South Wales
Seahampton is a hamlet situated north of West Wallsend, New South Wales, Australia, located 21 kilometres west of the city of Newcastle's central business district and west of the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway. It is regarded as a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie local government area. Seahampton's origins are in coal mining. Seaham No. 1 Colliery was opened here on 6 March 1890 by the Monkwearmouth Coal Company which was reformed and renamed the Seaham Coal Company Ltd. , in 1896.
