Kiama Blowhole

The Kiama Blowhole is a blowhole in the town of Kiama, New South Wales, Australia. It is the town's major tourist attraction. Under certain sea conditions, the blowhole can spray water up to 25 metres (82 ft) in the air, in quantities that thoroughly drench any bystanders. There is actually a second, less famous blowhole in Kiama, commonly referred to as the "Little Blowhole" by locals.

Shellharbour, New South Wales

Shellharbour is a city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. It also gives its name to the local government area, City of Shellharbour. The suburb is centred on the small recreational harbour named Shell Harbour. It has two main beaches, Shellharbour Beach, which runs to Barrack Point and Shellharbour South Beach, which runs toward Bass Point. Shellharbour is undergoing extensive development with many new retail outlets and units being constructed.

Minnamurra railway station

Minnamurra is a station on the CityRail South Coast line. Located between the Kiama Golf Club and the Minnamurra Public School, it serves the suburbs of Minnamurra and Kiama Downs. The station was opened on 23 December 1891, but was moved to its present site in 1943, opening on 10 October of that year. In 2001, the Illawarra line was electrified between Dapto and Kiama.

Jamberoo, New South Wales

Jamberoo is a small picturesque village approx 11 km inland from Kiama on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia in the Municipality of Kiama. At the 2006 census, Jamberoo had a population of 935 people. The town's name is derived from an aboriginal word meaning 'track'. It is well known for the Jamberoo Action Park (previously Jamberoo Recreation Park), Jamberoo Hotel (Pub) and the local dairy farming community. The Australian Illawarra Shorthorn cattle breed originated in here.

Kiama railway station

Kiama is an intermediate terminal station on the CityRail South Coast line. It serves the town of Kiama. The station opened on 2 June 1893. In 2001 electric train services were extended from Dapto to Kiama, and Kiama remains the limit of electrification. A connecting diesel train operates between Kiama and Bomaderry (Nowra). Kiama has an island platform connected by a lift to street level near an overbridge. It therefore has Easy Access for wheelchairs.

Dunmore railway station

Dunmore (Shellharbour) is a CityRail railway station on the South Coast railway line. It serves the suburb of Dunmore as well as being an indirect rail link to the suburb of Shellharbour. When the station was built, opening on 9 November 1887, Shellharbour was a long way from the railway line, but has since grown and now borders the line.

Bombo railway station

Bombo is a CityRail railway station on the South Coast railway line. The station has 1 side platform, but has a platformless crossing loop and an extra siding, both of which are often used for passing freight trains. The station serves the adjacent beach, Bombo Beach, and the suburb of North Kiama. There is a quarry next to the station. Bombo station probably deserves the distinction of being the closest to the ocean in Australia, being virtually on the beach.

Bass Point (Australia)

Bass Point is a headland in Australia on the New South Wales south coast. The point was named by Matthew Flinders in around 1800, after his friend and fellow explorer George Bass. The waters just off the point are considered a critical habitat for the endangered grey nurse shark, so fishing there is restricted. Bass Point is also home to renowned big wave surfing spot "Redsands", which breaks off a headland at the entrance to Bass Point Reserve.

It is deposited at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.

Minnamurra River

The Minnamurra River is a river in the Jamberoo and Kiama areas of the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Its drainage area (catchment) contains much of the Jamberoo Valley surrounded by Stockyard Mountain to the north, Jamberoo Mountain to the west and Noorinan and Saddleback Mountain to the south. Its mouth lies immediately north of the Kiama suburb of Minnamurra at Minnamurra Point. The entrance is characterised by a small island just offshore from the mouth.

Hawkesbury Packet

The Hawkesbury Packet was a sloop constructed for Solomon Wiseman that helped him 'rise' from being just a convict to a wealthy colonial landholder in Australia. Constructed in 1811, the Hawkesbury Packet was a 21 ton coastal trader. Prior to its final wrecking in 1817 it was blown ashore in 1816. On 24 May 1816 it sailed from Sydney to Newcastle but was hit by a gale and was forced into Port Stephens on 20 June 1816.
