Branxton, New South Wales
Branxton is a town in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. Branxton is 171 kilometres north of Sydney via the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway and New England Highway. Branxton is located mostly in Cessnock City Council, but part of it is in Singleton Shire. Together with nearby Greta, it had a population of 3,805 in 2001. Branxton is a busy service township with a medical centre, swimming school, and an art school.

It was temporarily closed in 2002 due to the nearby bridge construction, and permanently closed on 9 September 2005, after railway works by the Australian Rail Track Corporation.

The town became notorious for the Rothbury Riot when police shot into a crowd of miners killing Norman Brown and injuring many more, during a lockout of miners at the local colliery on 16 December 1929. A monument in honour of Norman Brown is located at North Rothbury.

Farley was a closed station on the Main North railway line in New South Wales. It opened in 1860 initially as Wollombi Road, and closed to passenger services in 1975. It was a side platform with a substantial station building which lay disused until eventual demolition. Only the platform face remains. Save our Rails, a Newcastle rail lobby group, has suggested opening a new railway station in the Farley area to improve rail access to Newcastle.
