Byron Bay is a beachside town located in the far-northeastern corner of the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 772 kilometres north of Sydney and 165 kilometres south of Brisbane. The shire is located adjacent to the Tasman Sea about 50 kilometres south of the Queensland border. The shire, administered from the town of Mullumbimby, covers an area of 566.7 square kilometres, and has existed as a local government entity since 1906. The shire was named for Cape Byron, itself named by Captain Cook in May 1770 in honour of Admiral John Byron.
Billinudgel, New South Wales
Billinudgel is a town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, and is part of Byron Shire. It used to be a railway town with many fruits and vegetable loaded onto the local railway. Since the railway was not longer used in Billinudgel it has nearly joined to the nearby town of Ocean Shores. The area was bypassed by a heavily upgraded Pacific Highway in July 2007.

Minyon Falls
Minyon Falls is a waterfall in the Nightcap National Park, New South Wales, Australia. Standing at over 100 metres high, this waterfall is a popular visitor attraction and is located within easy reach of the nearby town of Byron Bay. The falls themselves are the result of the water of Repentance Creek flowing over the huge rhyolite cliffs which were once part of the Tweed Volcano. The water flow eroded the underlying basalt away to create the 100-metre waterfall.

MV Tassie III
MV Tassie III (S-77) was a 120 ton steel motor vessel, which was requisitioned by the United States Army Small Ships during the Second World War and was carrying 80 tons of condemned ammunition and was wrecked {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:-28.638795|153.613906|type:landmark_region:AU|||||| |primary |name= }} while sheltering at the jetty at Byron Bay on 9 June 1945. The salvage tug Tancred salvaged most of the ammunition from the wreck in 1946.
