Duffy was gazetted as a placename on 2 July 1970. The Canberra bushfires of 2003 destroyed about 200 Duffy homes and the local petrol station.

Located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of the city, Weetangera is bounded by Springvale Drive to the south and west, Coulter Drive to the east and Belconnen Way to the north. The Pinnacle Nature Reserve, a Canberra Nature Park is adjacent to the south of the suburb, across Springvale Drive.

Mount Stromlo

Scrivener Dam
Scrivener Dam, a concrete gravity dam that impounds Molongolo River, is located in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Named in honour of surveyor, Charles Scrivener, the dam was officially inaugurated on 20 September 1964 (1964-09-20) and the official filling of the lake commemorated on 17 October 1964 (1964-10-17), by the Prime Minister, Robert Menzies.

AME School
The Association of Modern Education School (or AME School) was opened in early 1972 and ran as an independent community based school in Canberra until late 1996. Planning for the foundation of the school began around 1970 and the school took over the disused government school buildings in the Canberra suburb of Duntroon, which had recently closed. The AME school first opened in 1972 with Robin McConnell as headmaster.
Mount Stromlo Hydro-Power Station
The Mount Stromlo Hydro-Power Station is a small hydro-electric power station installed on the Bendora Gravity Main in Canberra, Australia. It was constructed in 2000 and is owned by ActewAGL, a Government-private sector joint venture. Production of energy depends on the water flow into the nearby Mount Stromlo Water Treatment Plant. It produces about 200 megawatt hours of electricity per month.
McKellar Park (Canberra)
McKellar Park, formally known as Belconnen Soccer Centre and McKellar Soccer Centre, is a stadium in the Canberra suburb of McKellar, in Australia. The playing surface is rectangular in shape and is used almost exclusively for football (soccer) matches. The venue is the home ground of ACT Premier League club Belconnen United FC and W-League club Canberra United FC.

The site is located at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin and is used for research and recreation. Trees of the arboretum were mostly planted 1954-1957 by Lindsay Pryor. The arboretum was damaged in the 2003 Canberra bushfires.

National Arboretum Canberra
The National Arboretum Canberra is an 250 hectares arboretum in Canberra, the national capital of Australia, created after the area was burned out as a result of the Christmas 2001 and 2003 Canberra bushfires: The Himalayan Cedar forest lost about one third of its trees, and the commercial Radiata Pine plantation was burned out, allowing the arboretum to be created.
