The Royal Australian Air Force was formed on 31 March 1921, being preceded by the Australian Flying Corps that saw service in World War I. This memorial commemorates the 50th anniversary of the formation of the RAAF (initially as the Australian Air Force, the 'Royal' prefix being added in August 1921), and the service of members of the RAAF.

Rats of Tobruk Memorial
The Rats of Tobruk Memorial is on ANZAC Parade, the principal ceremonial and memorial avenue of Canberra, Australia. The German siege of the Libyan Mediterranean Sea port town of Tobruk began on 10 April 1941. After desperate fighting, most of the Australian forces were relieved by October 1941. However, the town was continuously contested until the Allied victory at El Alamein in 1942.

Kings Park is a park in Canberra, Australia on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin. Kings Park is near Kings Avenue bridge on the North side of Lake Burley Griffin's Central Basin. It is bounded to the north by Parkes Way. The best known feature is the Carillon which is located on Aspen Island, just off the shore of Kings Park. Kings Park is located adjacent to Commonwealth Park which lies to its west.

The suburb was gazetted in April 1991 though an official announcement is yet to be made about the first land release. Tertiary education is provided by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra campus, which is the awarding body for ADFA qualifications.
